Submitted by Technical Director on Sun, 08/11/2019 - 16:18

Assessments are for players wishing to play at the competitive level in their age group: U11-U13 Gold and U14-U18 VIPL and Gold. Those wishing to only play recreationally(Silver, Bronze) are not required to attend assessments. The majority of teams from U14-U18 will be pooled with Gorge S.A.

  • If an interested player is unable to attend any of these assessments please contact the Technical Director.
  • Any player already selected to these teams is expected to attend the assessments.
  • Each player must attend their own age group assessment unless given special permission by the Lakehill technical director.
  • Please view the "Player Assessment Information" criteria page before attending.

**U14 Boys Gold: The Gorge & Lakehill technical staff have deemed we will not be able to form a viable group, thus there will be no assessments for this team.

Lakehill News - Summer Edition - 2019

Submitted by watchdog on Thu, 07/11/2019 - 20:51

Yes, it’s mid-July…but the damp in the air has me feeling rather “soccery”…is that a word? If you’re stuck inside, and you even gave a moment to think about that last question, you must have time for Lakehill News!

  • Fall Registration
  • “Free” Summer Drop In!
  • PowerUp FunZone Comes to Braefoot
  • Assessment Schedule
  • Congratulations Are Due
  • Striker and Goalkeeper Camps
  • And Finally…

Fall Registration Continues…

Just because you missed the early-bird deadline, doesn’t mean you don’t have any incentive to register as soon as possible. After all, late registration fees kick-in after August 21st. What are you waiting for? Visit the Lakehill PowerUp page, login and start registering.

Congratulations to the Coupers, who were the winners of the early registration draw for a family pack of tickets to the VIFC/PFC doubleheader – they registered all the way back in April! By all accounts they had a great time at the PFC game, and next time we’ll even try to arrange a home team win (VIFC upheld their part of the deal, even if the Coupers couldn’t be there!)

“Free” Summer Soccer!

Free drop-in soccer on Wednesday nights is off to a roaring start with 65 kids registered to take part. There are so many registered, we might soon have to cap registrations. But for now, there is still time to join the fun. Registration is by donation, with all fees donated to Kidsport to help needy kids in our community take part in sports. Suggested donation/registration fee is $20 and we have already topped our total from last year – great job Lakehill families! For those that still want to join in, just log-in to the PowerUp page to register.

PowerUp Fun Zone is Coming to Lakehill

PowerUp Soccer takes it role in the soccer community seriously. So much so, that they are undertaking a cross-Canada tour visiting the clubs that use PowerUp. They’ll be at Braefoot next Wednesday (July 17th) with their rolling Fun Zone! There will be soccer darts, some goodies for the kids, and a fun time for everyone. We’ve even timed the visit with drop-in soccer, so that the kids in the park that night will have twice the fun. Come join us at Braefoot next Wednesday evening between 5 and 7 PM.

August Assessments

The August assessment schedule has now been posted on the Lakehill website. Please see the details about which players/teams are being assessed, and if you have any issues or questions, please contact the Technical Director.
Congratulations Are Due

This past weekend, four pooled teams from Lakehill & Gorge participated in the Provincial A and B Cup Finals. This was the culmination of a long season and a long journey for each of these teams. Congratulations to the U14 Boys Gold, U16 Boys VIPL, U17 Girls VIPL and U18 Girls VIPL teams on amazing seasons and great tournaments. We may not have finished first in any of these competitions, but just making it that far is an accomplishment in and of itself, and we are very proud of all our players and coaches for their efforts. And let’s not forget the families behind them who also put in a load of time to get them there!

And while we are handing out accolades, we would be remiss if we didn’t mention the Lakehill players on the 03 and 04 Wave teams who won it all in the Provincial Premier Cup a few weeks ago. Congrats boys – you’ve done us proud!

KeeperCulture Camps

Want to become a better player? Want to have fun in the sun? Parents do you want your kids out of the house for a while? Well we have the answer to all these questions at once! Trevor Stiles is running striker and goalkeeping camps at Braefoot this summer. July 15-19 and August 26-30. Learn how to hit the perfect free kick, the knuckle shot and how to finish. Or improve your goalkeeping skills by learning to stop these shots! Play soccer tennis, 3 vs 3, soccer golf and take part mini world cup tournament during the 5 days. Trevor promises that no matter what position you play, his camp will be the most fun you have this summer! And as a bonus, all Lakehill members get a 10% discount. Just enter code LH 10 at checkout. For more information and to register, visit or just email Trevor.

And Finally…

For the last month, many of us have been enjoying the Women’s World Cup. Of course, not everyone had the luxury of catching all the games…they were on after all, during the work day! So for those of you who missed out, here’s a little video of some of the best goals of the tournament. It’s hard to believe we have to wait another four years for it to come around again. Enjoy!

Lakehill News - School’s Out Edition! 2019

Submitted by watchdog on Sun, 06/23/2019 - 15:43

It’s that time again – if they aren’t already at home and underfoot, they soon will be! So before you head for the hills to find some peace, here’s one last edition of the Lakehill News to kick off the start of summer.

  • Fall Registration
  • “Free” Summer Drop In!
  • August Assessments
  • PFC/VIFC – Get Your Tickets!
  • A Great Opportunity
  • KeeperCulture Camps
  • And Finally…

Early Bird Registration Discount Ends Soon!

The deadline for fall registration at the cheapest rates is just over a week away. But you’ll need to register by June 30th to receive the early bird registration rates. You’ll save $30 per registration if you register early. Parents of players U9 and up are also reminded that late registration fees kick-in after August 21st. But June 30th is a hard deadline – register by then or you’ll miss out on the discount! Visit the Lakehill PowerUp page, login and start registering. AND…

As an additional bonus, every paid registration before the end of June will also be entered into a draw for a unique doubleheader: Lakehill is giving away a family pack of tickets to the July 6th Vancouver Island FC and Pacific FC home games!

Know someone who wants to try soccer for the first time? Tell them to come try it at Lakehill! We are always looking for new players to try soccer at every age. And we have a flexible refund policy, so if they don’t like it, there’s really no risk. But we’re sure they will! Tell your friends – Lakehill is the best!

“Free” Summer Soccer!

It was such a success last year that we have decided to run again this year. We’re offering drop in soccer on Wednesday nights, 5:30 to 7:00 starting this week and running to mid-August. This is a program for players born 2004 to 2011. Registration is by donation, with all fees donated to Kidsport to help needy kids in our community take part in sports. Suggested donation/registration fee is $20. Last year we were able to raise over $1000 for Kidsport and we are looking forward to topping that this summer. Please log-in to the PowerUp page to register (registration ensures we properly staff the evenings, plus we can get a hold of you if there is any need to).

August Assessments

The August assessment schedule is currently in development. It should be posted to the Lakehill website sometime in the next week, so keep checking back. Spoiler alert! It will be for the last couple of weeks of August.

VIFC/PFC – Support Our New Teams!

Have you heard about the new women’s and men’s teams playing in Victoria this summer? You’ve been hiding under a rock if you haven’t! The new WPSL Vancouver Island FC team even trains out of Braefoot! Pacific FC is the Victoria entry in the new Canadian Professional League. And of course, we shouldn’t forget that the Highlanders are still in town and having a great season. If you want to see some great soccer action, you don’t have far to go this summer. Support our local teams to ensure there is a place for our kids to aspire to play!

A Great Opportunity…

For work experience! This one isn’t soccer related, but if you have a teenager looking for some great work experience, some volunteer hours, and best of all, a great feeling from helping a great cause, they are going to want to check out the iCanBike program at the Queen Alexandra Centre. They are looking for volunteers that are 15 years and older and are physically fit. They will be doing a lot of running beside bikes! The program is supervised by physiotherapists and occupational therapists as well as a coordinator and bike staff that travel across Canada and the United States with this program. This is a great opportunity for work experience for any teenager thinking about occupational or physical therapy as a career. Plus it gets them out of the house for a week! Check out the attached flyer for more information and contact information. And if we do get a bunch of Lakehill kids doing this, take your jerseys and get a picture for our Instagram page! We love to hear about Lakehill players doing great things in the community.

KeeperCulture Camps

Another chance to get the kids out of the house this summer - are you sensing a theme in this newsletter? KeeperCulture will be running both goalkeeping and finishing camps at Braefoot this summer. You can find more details on the KeeperCulture website.

And Finally…

It’s the time of year where a lot of us get to attend end of school year ceremonies. I’m lucky enough to get to attend the closing ceremonies for St Margaret’s every year, and one of the highlights for me the past few years has been getting to hear statements from the graduating class about how much they enjoyed volunteering at the Lakehill concession over the season. It’s not only gratifying to hear that Lakehill is a positive memory, but to hear that VOLUNTEERING WITH LAKEHILL is a lasting memory? Hard to beat that feeling. Congrats to all the Lakehill grads this year – even the ones that didn’t play a game with us. We hope you all go on to bigger and better things, but that you will always keep the red and white as part of your treasured memories. You’ll always be part of ours.

New Div 1 Women's Team Kickarounds

Submitted by President on Sun, 05/19/2019 - 16:22

Lakehill is currently giving consideration to challenging for a spot in LIWSA Div 1 Soccer next season. To assess the viability of this, the club will be holding kickaround sessions on June 4th, 11th and 25th at 8 PM on the Braefoot turf field. All interested players are invited to join these sessions.

U13 Boys Gold (2007)

Submitted by Technical Director on Fri, 05/17/2019 - 15:00

The following 9 players have been confirmed to the Gorge/Lakehill U13 Gold team for the 2019-20 season. This will be a pooled group between Gorge and Lakehill, as we will be combining players to form one U13 Gold team next season. There will be additional assessments in August to finalise the remaining spots.
